Pledge Letter

Hello! Ano! Wumzi! Tu laih mah! Sanu!

I am writing on behalf of ScholarShop Africa to request your support for a cross-country bicycle trip.  I am fundraising for the scholars of Cameroon. On March 12th, I began riding ~5000 miles across the beautiful USA from Seattle to Los Angeles to D.C. and up to NYC!
#5000Milesfor500Scholars is to raise funds for ScholarShop Africa to continue helping the scholars of Cameroon – and eventually West Africa – reach their aspirations.  We support students like Tem Yoland. Yoland grew up spending most of her childhood in a big city selling fruits in the market to support her mother and three younger siblings. However, Yoland’s drive and determination to further her education convinced her mom to let her move back to their village and go to school where she has excelled, winning numerous awards and being the top student in her class every year. Through her hard work with ScholarShop, Yoland earned enough, ‘ScholarDollars’ to pay her school fees and end of the year exams, bringing her closer to her dreams of becoming an accountant or banker. Without the help of ScholarShop, she wouldn’t have been able to afford both expenses. Please visit our website, www.ScholarShopAfrica.org to learn more.

ScholarShop Africa is starting its third year, and using its innovative conditional supply transfer program, more than 250 Cameroonian scholars have benefited to date. The scholars have recorded more than 2000 hours of community service and have earned more than $4500 dollars of locally purchased supplies. 50% of our scholars used their earnings on solar lamps, book bags, school shoes, or school uniforms, while the rest paid for school and exam fees.

We hope you will join us in supporting our cause by pledging for #5000milesfor500students.
